During the winter I escape to warm places, I don't like the cold and skiing is not an option for me given that I am fearful of injuring my hands. Every year I go down to Miami monthly during the winter months, it's a perfect quick getaway. I have an office in Coral Gables where I see all my snowbird New York and South American patients from Palm Beach, Boca, Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

I stay in the same suite in the Edition Hotel every time and always make my first meal stop at the Freehand Hotel. A little warmth, some shopping in the design district and a day or two of seeing my patients makes for perfect long weekend during the winter.

Holiday times of Christmas and spring break I tend to take more extended time off and go back to my two favorite spots, St. Barths and Parrot Cay in Turks and Caicos. St. Barths during the end of March is perfect timing for me as the weather is still great and the crowds from the holiday have diminished a bit. I go with extended family and rent a big house every year. I still think I'sola is some of the best Italian food I've eaten anywhere and you can't get a better beach in the world than Gouvenours.

Christmas time in Parrot Cay offers the perfect no crowd getaway. A small private island off of Turks and Caicos, it's designed by my friend Christine Gachot who is also designing my new office. Parrot Cay offers pure relaxation, great food and familiar faces year after year.
