When Watches of Switzerland's executive vice president, David Hurley, heard that Encore Boston Harbor was being built outside of Boston, he couldn't wait to board the plane here. “I love Boston,” he says. “I spent time in the city and Nantucket when I was a college kid.”

Now he can proudly visit his newly opened boutique, one of 17 worldwide locations, including Wynn casino properties in Macao and Las Vegas. “Encore Boston Harbor is perfect for us,” he says. “We love the level of luxury that this management team creates.”

Naturally, as Watches of Switzerland has earned a reputation for curating the most top-tier brands in the industry, including IWC Schaffhausen, Omega, Panerai and Hublot. Those unfamiliar with WOS may not know that the company is the beloved U.K.-based operation that owns Mappin & Webb, which holds royal warrants as the jeweler to Queen Elizabeth.

The Boston boutique is fit for a royal family too, resting front and center in Encore's prestigious retail space and offering a deluxe seating area, private consultation rooms and a complimentary beverage service. Clients can expect a one-of-a-kind and one-off pieces that reach as high as $1 million.

“We are always on the lookout for emerging designers, and we also co-create styles with our established brands,” Hurley says. Boston will be one WOS location that carries the exclusive limited-edition Pilot's Edition watch (which Hurley himself owns), the result of the first collab between IWC and Watches of Switzerland. “Our boutiques are open and friendly,” Hurley continues. “We want guests to feel comfortable walking in and checking out watches just for fun. People are getting more fascinated with timepieces, and if you maintain them, they will last another 100 years. That is special.” 1 Broadway, Everett, Mass., encorebostonharbor.com; watches-ofswitzerland.co.uk
