Traveler's Table brings the World of Cuisine to Houston

Traveler's Table brings the World of Cuisine to Houston

March 17, 2020 by

Mai Pham Mai Pham

To get your Indian, Vietnamese, Middle Eastern or Italian fix, you would typically have to visit different restaurants across town, but Traveler’s Table, the new Montrose hot spot by world traveler and first-time restaurateur Matthew Mitchell, seeks to change all that. Debuting on lower Westheimer in the former Aqui space, Traveler’s Table takes patrons on a journey of curated global cuisine. Courtesy of its worn, leather-bound menu—fashioned to evoke pages from Mitchell’s own travel diary—zigzag from South America to Vietnam with Brazilian pão de queijo, followed by soup dumplings filled with Vietnamese pho broth. Then head to Northern Thailand for khao soi curry noodles, to Italy for whole roasted branzino and, finally, to North Africa for a leg of lamb. Consulting chef Omar Pereney’s colorful, gorgeous plating and high-quality sourcing shine through course after delectable course. As for ambiance, Houston design star Gin Braverman delivers once again with warm, inviting interiors featuring hand plastered walls, vintage travel souvenirs and soft green fabrics in patterns reflective of ethnicities across the globe. 520 Westheimer Road, 832.409.5785
