We talk about the passage of time, but it’s not often we see a clock that looks ready to spring into motion itself. Swiss watchmaker MB&F, in partnership with L’Epée 1839, has created a new series of table clocks called T-Rex. This dinosaur-inspired piece stands nearly 12 inches tall, a miniature of an actual Tyrannosaurus rex (which stood 12 feet tall at the hips), and that’s a relief for our interior decor. With an eight-day power reserve, the clock is made of more than 200 components in bronze, stainless steel and palladium-plated brass, along with a translucent dial in red, green or blue created from handblown Murano glass. Only 300 limited-edition pieces will be made—100 in each color—retailing for $24,000 each. MB&F says the legs were made using 3D scans of fossilized dinosaur bones, one reason the clock’s legs seem ready to jump into action. Are pterodactyls next, so that time really can fly?
