“Our store is like a handpicked jewel box,” says owner Diane Firsten of her spacious new location, where she is already busy dressing longtime clients and welcoming new shoppers daily. Her eponymous store has been an island staple for 17 years. Beloved by many, it features the best of fashion, offering her brand of cashmere jackets and equestrian pants, as well as top European designers including Brunello Cucinelli, Aquazzura, Carolina Santo Domingo bags and more. “People want more wearable clothing now,” explains Firsten. This new store gives her the space to offer a wider range of items to her core customers. “In this day and age, with social media and online shopping, I feel responsible to get to know each and every customer,” she adds. “I’m a stylist, and I like a certain look mixed with trends that can be incorporated into everyone’s wardrobe. Face To Face
A seasoned interior designer with her own business for 15 years, Katherine Shenaman thought it would be fun to open a retail store next to her office to connect with more Palm Beach customers. Her new store, Callidus Palm Beach, features designer furnishings, lighting, tableware, jewelry, artwork and gifts, and is a collection of beautiful home decor that’s not to be missed. “My inspiration for the store is transitional, modern design—a soft, elegant, almost California-style,” says the attractive brunette. “Interior design is my main business, and the store is about connecting with the town and with new people.” Shenaman often travels to search for new products and design inspirations, recently visiting Tulum, Mexico, and several countries in Africa. “My goal is to find things that are unique and designs that pique people’s interest.” 139 N. “The world is so noisy, and your home should be a relaxing, peaceful place that really gives you pleasure,” says Monica Oberting, the co-owner of COMO Home & Design, Palm Beach’s newest home decor and interior design destination. Andrea Huainigg, an interior designer and Oberting’s partner, adds: “Our style reflects a warm, organic, sophisticated and contemporary design aesthetic that people are embracing in the United States.” It is no secret this pair is getting it right, gaining interior design opportunities through how they curate their Royal Poinciana Way location. “People step into our store and get a sense of our vision, and they ask us to come and design their homes or simply accessorize their spaces,” says Oberting. The uniqueness of the atelier comes from Huainigg and Oberting’s ability to curate for their clientele and supply European products with which they can identify. Enter the pair’s custom furniture line, COMO/collection, an array of upholstery pieces and tables handcrafted by European artisans exclusively for them. “Our clients are well-traveled,” Huainigg says. “We search for pieces that are different from the mainstream.” With an undoubtably inspirational setting, this atelier is sure to bring out the globe-trotting connoisseur in all of us. 253 Royal Poinciana Way
