When Kin Moy isn’t busy dominating his opponents in a cage, the professional mixed martial artist-turned-stylist teaches men how to upgrade their wardrobes. Whilefighting and fashion seem like odd bedfellows, the 29-year-old Boston native loves both and believes they are skills that can be acquired with proper training.

Through his service, Style Me Boston, Moy helps men reinvent their image through instruction, personal shopping, tailoring and wardrobe organization. “It’s a skill; it’s not intrinsic,” says Moy. “With all my clients, I strive to help train their eye to recognize what a good fit is, what well-coordinated colors look like and what looks good on them.”

The veteran fighter also notes that “style is language,” a tool that helps convey whatever message a person wants to send, whether you’re in a boardroom or on a dinner date. “I’ve worked with a lot of entrepreneurs who have to be in front of people,” says Moy. “Inspiring some degree of confidence and projecting competence with their look makes a big difference for them.”

A fan of brands like Suitsupply, J.Hilburn (through which he makes custom garments for select clients) and Zegna, Moy has a knack for putting together interchangeable pieces that work for any outfit. The key is to make sure everything is tailored to fit perfectly, as well as to avoid fashion faux pas like squaretoed shoes and going overboard with patterns. “At the end of the day, it comes down to expression,” says Moy. “Your individuality should be celebrated and incorporated into what you do.”
