Anyone who’s dined out in Miami long enough knows that wherever restaurateur Michael Schwartz sets his sights, success usually follows. Lately that’s been Coconut Grove, where he opened Harry’s Pizzeria in 2015 and where he just recently unveiled Tigertail + Mary, the type of casual restaurant that seems ideal for the neighborhood’s ongoing transformation. The bohemian vibe of the Grove is palpable at this new entry in Schwartz’s portfolio. For cocktails, the restaurant partnered with the experts at Bar Lab for drinks that nod to the area’s flora, such as the rhubarb and soda with Campari. Executive chef Stephen Ullrich’s menu includes standouts like mashed fava pizza with ramps, snap peas, asparagus and fontina cheese. There’s also a whole section devoted to vegan and vegetarian dishes, although meat, poultry and fish are well represented. Desserts come from chef Antonia Grandberry and include Pavlova with Key lime curd and mango-pineapple-coconut sorbet. Look out for the mango tree on the restaurant’s front lawn and the on-site herb garden that will make their debuts this summer. 3321 Mary St., Coconut Grove, 305.722.5688, tigertailandmary.com
