Tequila has become the go-to investment for actors, musicians and celebrities of all kinds, and Mark Wahlberg isn’t getting left out of the trend.

The actor, producer and businessman has been lured over to the agave side, making a principal investment in the Flecha Azul line of spirits. He joins co-founders Abraham Ancer and Aron Marquez, a Mexican PGA golfer and Mexican entrepreneur respectively, in the venture.

“I am always looking for great business opportunities to invest my time and energy,” Wahlberg is quoted in a press release. “When I was approached by Abraham and Aron, we immediately connected, and I knew that I wanted to partner with them to help build Flecha Azul into a global brand.”

Ancer and Marquez met on the golfing green and first conceived of Flecha Azul in 2017, a few years later in 2020, they celebrated the official launch. The brand’s name means “blue arrow” in Spanish, a nod to the tequila’s blue weber agave roots. Grown, harvested and distilled in Jalisco, Mexico, the brand is produced by a family-owned operation that’s been in the tequila industry since 1840.

As of press time, Flecha Azul offers five tequila expressions. The brand’s Blanco rests for two months with a bright finish, while it’s Reposado is aged six months for a sweet finish with notes of brown spice. The Añejo is aged 18 months (about six months longer than industry standard) and is enriched with maple and caramel notes. The Extra Añejo is aged for 36 months with hints of oak and butterscotch, while the Cristalino is triple-filtered for extra smoothness.

Wahlberg’s place as a principal investor ensures he’ll have a big hand in the future of the brand.

“This tequila is ultra-premium and really honors their Mexican roots,” Wahlberg writes in an Instagram caption announcing his involvement with followers. “I knew I wanted to share their amazing product with the rest of the world. I can’t wait for you to try it.”
