Since bursting onto the mainstream with 2017's "XO Tour Lif3," rapper Lil Uzi Vert has become synonymous with bold and colorful fashion. Likewise, New York’s Marc Jacobs has been one of the most colorful and devil-may-care designers of high fashion since the 1980s. It only seems right that the two worlds should merge.

Lil Uzi Vert will be the face of the Spring 2022 Marc Jacobs campaign. Dubbed The Monogram collection, it’s a logo-centric look that was introduced during the Fall 2021 runway show, and the print is continued for the Spring 2022 season.

The Philadelphia native is known for his genderless expression and wide-range taste in style, much like Marc Jacobs’ campaign. On Instagram, Lil Uzi Vert has the phrases “NO STYLIST” and “rapper fashion killa” in his bio. His style is characterized by a bold use of colors and prints, and a signature sense of androgyny not often seen in the rap scene. He’s not afraid to mix aesthetics and have a little fun, which makes him the perfect face for this brave Jacobs collection.

The Spring 2022 line plays on core values and aesthetics specific to Marc Jacobs, and the clothes serve as a testament to the brand’s celebration of individuality.

This collection explores cool and oversized streetwear including balaclavas, tube shirts, luxe canvas jacquard jackets, and pant sets with matching bucket hats. Pieces feature Marc Jacobs patterns varying in big slab lettering to smaller designs, and all are available in mixtures of black and white, pink and taupe, and black and beige.

Marc Jacobs’ latest release places an emphasis on a loose and angular silhouette that elongates the wearer with the clothes’ varying lengths. Chunky designs are paired with the statement pieces from the collection; balaclavas, tights, totes and bucket hats. On many occasions, the clothes are paired with chunky platform boots, perhaps to add to the height the clothes give.

Within the collection, there are varying prints that display the brand’s name. Most frequently in the pink and taupe, and black and white pieces, Marc Jacobs is printed in large slab font; while in the black and taupe pieces, the name is understated. From a distance, the latter looks as though it is mimicking a houndstooth or pinstriped pattern until closer inspection.

Items range from $95 to $495, and are currently available at MarcJacobs.com. See more images of Lil Uzi Vert and the Spring 2022 Monogram Collection from Marc Jacobs below.
