Winter in New England wouldn’t be complete without a weekend ski trip to Vermont, and there are few better places to escape to than The Lodge at Spruce Peak in Stowe. Not only is it a great spot for hitting the slopes, but the resort has also become a premier destination for its assortment of delectable offerings perfect for any foodie or lover of libations. One of the Lodge’s true hidden gems is Linehouse, a speakeasy-style bar that’s available to guests on an invitation-only basis. Those who are lucky enough to receive an invite are transported back to the Prohibition era as they walk down a nondescript metal staircase to the secret location in an underground basement on the property. Adorned with tin walls, natural wood, plus red and velvet lounge furniture, Linehouse offers a cozy yet vintage vibe for guests as they enjoy cocktails made from premium spirits as well as glasses from its luxurious wine selection. While Linehouse doesn’t have a cocktail menu, bartenders will chat with each guest to create a drink that matches their preferences and flavor profiles. And for visitors who want a more traditional experience, the talented mixologists can also craft cocktails that date back to the early 1900s using a bit of new-age air. 7412 Mountain Road, Stowe, Vt., 888.478.6938, sprucepeak.com
