Jose Garces is more than just a prolific restaurateur. He’s also an author, a television personality, a community leader, even a farmer.
The James Beard Award winner is the proud proprietor of a 40-acre organic produce oasis dubbed Luna Farm in Ottsville, Pa.—just around the corner from his recently opened New Hope restaurant Stella. Garces’ appreciation for the natural beauty of Luna Farm is the true inspiration behind the 120-seat suburban spot. Bucks County’s Ralph C. Fey Architects created the upscale-rustic interior outfitted with natural materials like limestone and featuring a glass wine wall. “The design was about trying to complement the beautiful, scenic surroundings and views of the Delaware River,” Garces says. For even better views, head to the 40-seat heated patio, open year-round, where seasonal dishes, along with mainstays like pecorino panna cotta and peekytoe crab, are best enjoyed. Cozy up around the patio’s replace, where warming cocktails like the Break a Leg, made with bourbon, lemon, honey and raspberry, will give you all the fall feels. 50 S.
