Training
I have been training in the gym now for over 35 years and have always enjoyed more of a bodybuilding workout. I’ve modified as I have gotten older (lower weight, more reps). After 2 shoulder surgeries and weakened lower lumbar, knees and neck, I now realize training is a marathon, not a sprint! Though I do still keep the same basic training schedule, I divide the body into 4 days, rinse and repeat! Add 30 minutes of cardio to start the workout, and 10-15 mins of stretching after. I also include one day a week of “cross-training” as well. That might be boxing, yoga, or functional training. I also normally do an “active rest” day on Sundays; that might be a long hike with Bodhi, my English Cream Golden Retriever, or running 1000 steps in Laguna Beach for 45 minutes.
nutritionists/chefs
I believe nutrition is key to maintaining overall health and working towards your overall fitness goals. I food prep on the weekends and try to eat very clean, however, if I do eat out, I like to go to restaurants that have a healthy or “farm to table” menu like chef Craig Strong’s restaurant, “Ocean at Main”.
car detailing
Paul Phaire (L&I mobile detailing spa) is my go-to, especially as I am a car enthusiast – Porsche in particular. I’ve been having my cars coated with a 3 year “Ceramic Coat” which looks amazing, then requires only weekly washes for 2-3 years!
Designer clothing shops/tailors/cobblers:
b.Spoke custom clothier in Costa Mesa has been making my suits for over 25 years and my stylist, Alyssa Ruiz, makes the process smooth and seamless.
Barbers
Kristin Zandbergen (Kittie Olivier Salons) works magic. As a gentleman with longer hair, I go in about once every 3-4 weeks for a neck trim and scalp treatment. Then for a trim every 2-3 months.
