Sea Island’s recent $30+ million enhancement program brought the opening of exceptional oceanfront facilities and accommodations at The Lodge at Sea Island, including seven guest cottages, each with sleeping rooms, living room, wet bar, fireplace, and 24-hour butler service as well as the 4,200-square-foot King Cottage. The King Cottage features four bedrooms, each with its own marble bathroom, large living and dining area, catering kitchen with Executive Chef, and, most notably, a private, indoor hitting bay where players hit directly onto the driving range, making it the king of all golf cottages. In addition, the new 17,000-square-foot Golf Performance Center opened, with six instruction and club fitting bays, a putting studio designed by world-renowned putting instructor Phil Kenyon - who serves as Director of Putting Instruction at Sea Island - a full-service golf club workshop, gym with locker rooms, spacious retail area, and indoor and outdoor meeting and event spaces.
Continuing to enhance the golf experience, Plantation, the resort’s oldest golf course recently became its newest. Sea Island’s own Davis Love III and his brother, Mark, of Love Golf Design, grew up playing the course, which was literally their back yard. As golf course designers, they have redesigned the course, which reopened for play in October 2019. Capping the new facilities is Sea Strike & Pub, a six-lane bowling alley and casual eatery at the Sea Island Beach Club.
