As an ambassador for Beardbrand, Greg Berzinsky must keep his luxurious look up to par for his million and a half followers on YouTube (and over 211k on Instagram). In order to get a better idea of how he creates the man that he is every day, Berzinsky breaks down his top spots for self-care around Philadelphia.
Who is your go-to trainer in your area and why?
Mike Calavechia for personal fitness plans and diet coaching as well as one on one training. For me, Mike has a realistic natural physique (and has competed as a natural bodybuilder) and mirrors my height and weight. Seeing what he has done is inspirational for me. instagram.com/mikecalfitness/
Your top go-to designer clothing shops in your area.
For off the rack, Suitsupply is a go-to as they seem to be the only people on trend with a slim suit that also has Wider Lapels, a necessity for a guy of my height and weight. For custom suits: Henry Davidsen (henrydavidsen.com), Rivesse (rivesse.com) and although in NYC, Christopher Korey is the man (ckcny.com/).
Do you have a tailor that you use for your more high end suits?
For Alternations and repairs, I use Royal Custom Tailor at 123 South Juniper Street (and have for 30 years). From standard hemming and repairs to re-cutting pants and jackets, they have done it all.
Top barber in your area?
With my work taping Youtube videos for beardbrand.com I have been to many of the barbershops in the city. My approach to barbers is all about technique and less about the look, location, or frills that a barber shop provides. When my hair is short, I like it cut every 2-3 weeks, so I don't need a glamour shop. All of these barbers are excellent technicians.
Jake Hunter (instagram.com/jake_thebarber1/) who works out of Men's Club Barbershop. Jake also can do concierge service cutting from his studio.
Justin at Mensclub is great with Beard work. (instagram.com/justin_thebarber)
Andy Fischer is an ace. She has a brand new shop in Fishtown (andyfischerhair.com; instagram.com/andyfischerhair)
Do you have a gym that you frequent or maybe a workout routine that you use to keep in shape?
I have just started making videos for the Beardbrand Alliance Youtube channel with Mike Calevechia (see above). We are showing a PUSH PULL LEGS routine which is a great starting routine that falls under the K.I.S.S. rule, Keep It Simple Stupid. It's a simple routine that gets the body done in just three workouts, and is an excellent starting point for guys new to weight training. As a man of a certain age, it's important to JUST go to the gym AND to lift weights. I work out 5+ days a week for no more than an hour and this gives me a trim athletic build and looks better in clothes. instagram.com/berzinsky/
