We live in a fast-changing world vastly different from those our fathers and grandfathers lived in. Today, society appears to be creating weaker men and encouraging men to shed their masculinity, water down their male testosterone, and become weaker versions of what men really should be like.
How do the ideas prevailing in contemporary American society affect the psyche of men? It is widely believed that men must conform to specific gender norms, including being perceived as weak and effeminate; however, this is not true.
To Tomo Marjanovic, the steady degradation of masculinity is not in the interest of society.
“It's not about men and women not having equal rights,” he explains. “It's about recognizing that it is natural for men to be masculine, and it's natural for women to be feminine.”
A first-generation American from a European immigrant family, Marjanovic had a strong passion for bodybuilding in his teens. He eventually entered the Police Academy and spent 12 years as a law enforcement officer in Clevland, Ohio, and Clearwater, Florida, where he received several commendations for his performance on the job.
After retiring, he worked for a medical clinic specializing in hormone therapy. After discovering their unsavory practices, he ventured out on his own and founded Aspire Rejuvenation Clinic, a premier wellness center and rejuvenation clinic with locations in Orlando, Florida, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Marjanovic is also an autodidact in endocrine health and hormone therapy and is certified in Advanced Bio-Idenitcal Hormone Therapy through Worldlink Medical. Currently, he leverages his expertise in hormone therapy and experience as a former bodybuilder and law enforcement officer to create enlightenment concerning our mindset and health around how hormone conditions are treated.
Tomo also advocates for society to come to an understanding of what a man represents in society and to appreciate masculinity as something to be proud of.
He stresses that masculinity does not necessarily make men superior to women, but it does mean that men are different from women.
For the entrepreneur and content creator, the differences between men and women are supposed to make them complement each other, not fight each other.
Tomo Marjanovic reveals he experienced hormonal decline at some point while working midnight shifts as a law enforcement officer. These shift schedules affect law enforcement officers' circadian rhythm, hormones, and in turn, their mental health.
The threshold for when a patient will start to experience a decline depends on that person’s unique biology.
“As a man, if your normal optimal testosterone range is between 1,200 ng/dL and 1,500 ng/dL, you can start to feel potentially symptomatic under 700 ng/dL. Unfortunately, the public is not aware this is an issue because mainstream medical professionals do not associate this decline as an issue due to the patient still being in the “normal range,” says Marjanovic.
For first responders, this hormonal imbalance then affects the mood of most officers and can result in symptoms like lack of sleep, anxiety, and depression. Tomo recognized the decline early and addressed it, but many do not, and their careers and personal lives suffer.
Even when the term “normal range” is used to define a true hormone imbalance, it helps society create the watered-down testosterone image it pushes. This image doesn’t have to be the reality, not when there is an entrepreneur like Tomo Marjanovic who understands the devastation that comes with a label like “normal range.”
