It was a very Standard Halloween this weekend in New York City—and that is to say it was anything but!
Nestled high on the 18th floor of The Standard hotel in the Meatpacking District, one of the year's most legendary parties began to unfold Saturday, Oct. 29.

The Standard claims a storied history within the greater cultural history of NYC, which is a rarity for a hotel that isn’t yet 30 years old.

As a rule, New Yorkers get really into Halloween, and when the city's most fashionable and fabulous need a place to celebrate the costumed holiday, this is where they turn.
In a crowded city where the next big party is always on the horizon, The Standard’s annual halloween party remains one of the city's most coveted invites, and for good reason. The music is always top notch, the drinks are always flowing, and it's just crowded enough to run into someone you haven’t seen in a few months but not so crowded it takes you the whole evening to get to the bar or the bathroom. In other words, it’s the perfect amount of guests.

Boom Halloween, as the party is called, usually counts on a menagerie of hosts, and his year was no different. This year’s soiree was hosted by The Standard; Yola Mezcal’s Gina Correll Aglietti, Lykke Li and Yola Gimenez; playwright Jeremy O’Harris and Creative Director Rafa. Guests were treated to a tinseled Boom Boom Room that brought back a glittering and shimmering revival of New York nightlife.
While the bar is normally covered in beautiful shades of gold, it was transformed for the festivities, draped in seemingly infinite strands of shining, purple tinsel.

It’s always a who’s-who of celebrity sightings. This year Mark Ronson, Grace Gummer, Emily Ratajkowski, Cara Delevigne, Prabal Gurung, Richie Shazam and Antoni Porowski joined the revelry, and we were all treated to an incredible performance by iconic New York DJ, Stretch Armstrong.
It wouldn’t be Boom Halloween without some surprises, and later that evening, hip LA sinder Sudan Archives took the bar under a giant, flowing, tree of purple tinsel for an epic live performance.

As the night continued and the party raged 18 floors above ground, fashion's favorite DJ, Mia Moretti, took over the decks to lead the city through the home stretch. Under her musical direction, New Yorkers continued the party well through the night, leaving the hotel with enough memories and treats to last them to next Halloween.
