Weird and Rare Elvis Presley Memorabilia Comes to Auction

Weird and Rare Elvis Presley Memorabilia Comes to GWS Auction

November 18, 2021 by

Elvis Presley "Love Me Tender" vinyl cover

Calling all hound dogs, jailbirds and blue suede shoe rockers. A slew of Elvis Presley’s rare, odd and deeply-personal effects is coming to the bidding block in Los Angeles.

The good people at Kruse GWS Auctions are bringing a star-studded array of memorabilia to its upcoming Artifacts of Hollywood & Music auction in December.

Chief among those enviable items are a series of The King’s favorites, including a rare and deeply-personal letter from his cousin Patsy which has never before been made public. His father’s prison cell lock is counted among the objects, and—one of the stranger items—The King’s own gold-filled tooth crown.

“Elvis Presley is always the star at our celebrity auctions, and this time the offerings are not only rare but unique in their oddity,” says Dame Brigitte Kruse, founder and lead auctioneer at Kruse GWS Auctions. “We hope you enjoy the Artifacts of Hollywood and Music auction as much as we have enjoyed curating this massive collection.”

Also among the rock idol lot comes a Taylor 110-GB acoustic guitar, signed and played by Led Zeppelin lead singer Robert Plant. The guitar itself features a portrait of Presley by artist Jason Orberly, and there are videos of Plant playing the guitar on YouTube.

A rare copy of John Lennon's "Cold Turkey" record cover from 1969 is up for grabs, as is a clipping of Paul McCartney's hair, Pink's pink microphone featured in a photo shoot with her dog Elvis, and an army-pressed single of Presley's "Love Me Tender" sold to U.S. soldiers in Germany from 1958 to '59.

Memorabilia from the lives of Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, HRH Queen Elizabeth and her late-husband Prince Philip will also be featured in what is truly an over-the-top selection of rare and special items for collectors and super-fans alike.

The Artifacts of Hollywood and Music auction is set to take place Saturday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. PT. Bids may be placed online as well. See more images of the auction items below and visit gwsauctions.com for more images and information.
