The ’50s brought us martini lunches, the ’80s brought us frosty umbrella drinks, and the ’00s had us gulping down flamingo-pink cosmos like it was our job. What did this decade bring us as it relates to spirits? Sobriety. Yep, being sober is the new cool worldwide, and the Magic City is no exception. High-end mocktails are being served on the regular at swanky Miami hot spots thanks to the trendy demand. Legendary mixologist Nico de Soto says that nowadays, people want to drink less and are more health-forward. “Mocktails allow diners to still enjoy very complex drinks without the alcohol,“ explains De Soto. Never mind the fact that the pretty concoctions keep your Insta feed legit. Partake in the trend via drinks like Minnow Bar’s Disco Lemonade made with popular alcohol-free spirit Seedlip Garden; The Standard’s Lido, a collaboration with Perrier containing the bubbly water, refreshing watermelon with organic rose syrup, lime and fresh basil; and The National Hotel’s Blood Orange Kiss, which includes both CBD oil and kava—nature’s Xanax. Your hangover-free head will thank you later.
