Prepare to ignite your taste buds as Michelin-starred celebrity chef Michael Mina heats up Del Mar’s dining scene with the arrival of International Smoke. Located in One Paseo, the dining destination is a collaboration between Mina and TV personality, renowned restaurateur, chef and cookbook author Ayesha Curry, marking the duo’s fourth location. Diners can look forward to wood-fired steaks, seafood, ribs and other (sometimes unexpected) smoke-infused dishes. But this isn’t your average barbecue joint, as the name might insinuate; flavors from across the globe—including China, Egypt, Jamaica, Korea, Mexico, Thailand and Vietnam—are incorporated into the menu. (Mina’s Egyptian heritage is reflected in the Mama Mina’s Falafel and whole-roasted cauliflower made with tehina sauce and za’atar spices.) If the other, wildly popular locations are anything to go by, this eatery is sure to become the spot to see and be seen in North County. 3387 Del Mar Heights Road, 619.331.4528, internationalsmoke.com
