"The Scots are very fashion conscious, so it’s always been part of my DNA,” says Scottish style-setter Brian McGrory, who serves as creative director and general manager of Villa Carlotta. “Guests love the history and soul, but moreover love the privacy and serene atmosphere,” he explains of the storied long-term-stay residence in Hollywood that recently revealed a pool, pool house and gym with Peloton bikes. McGrory’s dressing style—“My go-to outfit is brown cords, Dior cowboy boots and a Bottega trucker jacket,” he says—is in line with his laid-back, warm personality, a trait that’s garnered him the nickname “Pied Piper.” “After all those years of building up a community and client base, people trust your vision and taste level, and therefore follow what you create,” he explains.
