UK performance carmaker Aston Martin unveiled details on the new Vantage Roadster drop-top that now joins the Vantage Coupe unveiled in 2018. We know that both share the same thrilling 4-liter twin-turbo V8 power plant that separates the Bond-preferred maker’s spirit-true sports cars from its more GT-oriented V12 uber-cars. An 8-speed ZF transmission doles out the muscle, providing a blast from 0 to 60mph in just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph with the roof up. And that roof, in addition to some other design cues this drop-top can call its own, is a very special added feature; beyond sharing the sun’s rays with the flying occupants.

The fabric roof is deployed in a z-fold scheme, lowered in 6.7 seconds and raised just a hair slower at 6.8 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph. It’s the fastest roof operation of any automatic-equipped convertible. When stowed, the roof carries a very low stack height, which allows for a seamless roof profile as well as minimal impact on the Vantage drop-top’s luggage capacity. A full-size golf bag and accessories easily fits in with the roof down.

Aston Martin President and CEO Andy Palmer, said of the Vantage Roadster: “Open-top Aston Martins are always firm favorites with our customers, so it’s very exciting to introduce the Vantage Roadster. For many, driving with the roof down is the true definition of the sports car experience as it truly brings your senses to life. Vantage has always delivered the purest of thrills, but in roadster form, that adrenaline rush is set to go to the next level.” Mensbook.com is on the shortlist to test drive both Vantage variations very soon, so stay tuned.
