Chef Brad Kilgore’s winning streak continues with Ember, the new bistro he recently opened at Paradise Plaza in the Design District, where the main appeal is dishes cooked over open fire, especially ones diners might not expect. Case in point: fire-roasted lasagna with a mushroom and roasted tomato ragu (yes, it’s totally vegan). Another highlight is Kilgore’s take on fried chicken, a generous dish that’s both crunchy and fragrant. To start off, the charred prawn cocktail with an on-point cocktail sauce and celery leaf salad gets the taste buds going. Desserts are just as exciting with standouts such as grilled strawberries and cream, and a creme brulee that gets branded tableside with the Ember logo using a contraption that defies description—sometimes by the main man himself. 151 NE 41st St., Miami, 786.334.6494, embermiami.com
