The private “Palace of Mirrors” room at Punjab Grill comes with a concierge and a $2,500 minimum.

It’s easy to imagine yourself as a majestic ruler while dining in Punjab Grill’s showy Sheesh Mahal (“Palace of Mirrors”) private dining room. Festooned with 150,000 individually handcrafted convex mirrors, the 10-seat nook befits its billing. Hermès dishware and custom fabrics by textile master Peter D’Ascoli add to the grandeur. The immense and intricately carved communal table, like most of the design elements in the new downtown Indian restaurant helmed by executive chef Jaspratap Bindra, were constructed in India and shipped to Washington. “No single detail has been left out of the narrative,” says Punjab Grill CEO Karan Singh. Private room or not, the exploration of classic Punjabi dishes infused with modern expressions and techniques makes for a royal night out. 427 11th St. NW, Washington; punjabgrilldc.com
