Los Angeles is famous for many culinary delicacies, but until recently, pizza was not one of them. A taste of the real thing required a flight to New York or Italy. But with myriad pizzerias opening across town, that notion has changed. After much anticipation, Chris Bianco of legendary Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix is serving flatbreads downtown at The Market Bar at The Manufactory LA, and over in Hollywood, L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele will soon have its second brush with stardom: Its first was an appearance in the popular book-turned-movie Eat Pray Love. Now, the old-world pizzeria, which originally opened in Naples, Italy, in 1870, will inhabit the 6,000-square-foot space that once housed Café des Artistes. Its large patio, an homage to Italian courtyards, will allow guests to enjoy alfresco evenings while watching the pies bubble in the wood-burning oven.

Finally, Sprinkles Cupcakes co-founder Candace Nelson and her partners will open a second location of the uberpopular Pizzana, in the former Ed’s Coffee Shop on Robertson. The Brentwood pizzeria that Nelson opened in 2017 with husband Charles, partners Chris and Caroline O’Donnell, and pizzaiolo Daniele Uditi was met with critical acclaim and a devoted following.
