The hottest new ingredient to make an appearance on cocktail menus can actually help you chill: Cannabidiol, or CBD, the nonpsychoactive chemical found in cannabis, is enjoying its day (and night) in the limelight.

DOLCE RIVIERA
Bar manager Adrian Morales named his Coconut Bay Dream cocktail for its star ingredient, CBD. Choosing a tincture with a more earthy flavor, he pairs it with coconut rum, simple syrup, lime juice, muddled cucumbers and a sprig of rosemary strained into a highball glass and finished with a dash of black pepper. The response? Regulars love it, according to Morales. “They’ve heard the buzz about CBD. They say it’s calming, like sipping from a coconut on the beach—only with a kick.” 2950 N. Tanqueray gin is the spirit of choice for bartender Kevin Covert’s A Love Field, named for Dallas’ in-town airport. He pairs it with an all-natural CBD tincture flavored with a hint of citrus to create a cocktail that provides a “cool, chill feeling.” Other ingredients include Luxardo Maraschino liqueur, Lillet aperitif and fresh-squeezed lemon juice—served in a chilled martini glass and garnished with a lemon twist. The result is a crisp, refreshing, superbly sippable drink perfect for a relaxing summer evening. 4345 W. Northwest Highway, 214.350.6135, suzedallas.com

THE BOTANIST
Due to the growing success of oil-infused offerings, it was only natural for Exxir Hospitality Chief Operating Officer Jeremy Hargrove to try his hand with CBD oil. The fruit of his labors is The Florist’s Dram, a mezcal-based cocktail with Chartreuse, pastis, herbal-infused simple syrup and a splash of what he calls “CBD magic.” While the immediate instinct was to go green (“because isn’t that what anything cannabis-derived makes you think of?”), Hargrove says it's the mezcal that makes it, providing a heady, smoky flavor evocative of, well, smoking. 308 N.
